Halfway to Olympic
The Oxford Tri club's event is on next Saturday morning, starting at Cassington Lake and involving a 1200m swim, 29km ride and 7.2km run. This is about half-way between a sprint and an olympic distance, so will be an interesting extra challenge for me.
I decided to give it a try today to make sure it wasn't going to completely kill me next weekend.

OK, so I didn't really do it properly, but I did
But at least I did all three one after another, even if it was a bit more pedestrian than it needs to be next week. I reckon I should be fine - just quite near the back. They're having a BBQ and prize-giving after the event next week, so hopefully the front-runners won't eat all of the burgers before I get there. And maybe I'll get a wooden spoon?!
- cycle to the lake - about 5 miles (Gmap pedometer)
- swim 1600m (45 minutes)
- cycled back home
- run my new "favourite route" alongside the canal nearby (Gmap Pedometer), which was about 7.5km there and back
- have a nice brunch and an afternoon nap for 2 hours!
